While the Mont-Tremblant area attracts many visitors each year, few venture into the Upper-Laurentians. It is however, a true outdoor paradise that awaits us! As for me, I’m always ready to get off the beaten path and venture a little further into nature. I was therefore delighted to have a little stay in the surroundings of Nominingue. It was an active and relaxing 48 hours, exactly what I needed! I present you my short itinerary if you wish to escape in nature in the Upper-Laurentians.
An introduction to SUP yoga
If, like me, you practice yoga regularly and already enjoy the benefits, you will love SUP yoga! Indeed, performing a yoga routine on a paddle board floating on the water is all the more magical. Feeling the waves under our body in balance adds a certain challenge, but above all it puts us in a state of incomparable zenitude. Take advantage of this opportunity to maintain contact with the water whenever possible during the activity to amplify this effect!
It was with Lise from Nomadia SUP/Yoga that I experienced this introduction on Petit lac Nominingue and it was absolutely perfect! The excursion started with a ride on the water to reach an idyllic spot for SUP yoga. Once moored, a simple movement routine allowed us to stretch, clear our minds, refocus on the present moment and relax in the heart of nature. I loved challenging my balance and flexibility while following Lise’s valuable advice. This is an experience I would certainly like to repeat and I recommend it to everyone without any hesitation!
A night in the heart of nature
Now that you are relaxed, nearby is a charming place where you can continue your stay in the nature of the Upper-Laurentians. I’m talking about Les Toits du Monde, which offers particularly unusual ready-to-camp accommodations!
Once there, you will dive into the forest as far as the eye can see with all your belongings in a cart. After a short walk, your accommodation will be waiting for you with everything you need for a pleasant stay!
It is a truly unique place that invites us to live a moment of escape off the grid. You will be able to make a campfire and admire the starry sky before falling asleep to the sounds of nature in your little cabin.
A walk in the forest
To conclude this stay in beauty, I invite you this time to go to the side of Ascension where the Parc de la Source is located. This network of trails through a beautiful forest allows you to venture out for a short or long time. One of the routes even takes you to a lookout point with a superb view of the Rouge Valley.
Parking and access to the trails are free. It’s a great excuse to go for a walk and take a deep breath of fresh air! I enjoyed moving around a bit and enjoying the abundant nature of the Upper-Laurentians one last time before heading home.
In short, this region offers us the opportunity to reconnect with a preserved nature of its vast territory and simply enjoy every moment. It’s the perfect place to experience a rejuvenating outdoor getaway. I strongly encourage you to go beyond the highly visited places and treat yourself to the calm and beauty of the Upper-Laurentians!
